Late last month Main Street hosted yet another successful policy retreat for our members. Our Chief of Staff policy retreat connects our private sector members with many of the Chiefs of Staff of our Congressional offices.
Main Street’s weekend policy retreat provides our private sector and non-profit members with an opportunity to discuss a wide range of policy issues with senior Congressional staffers. At this retreat, those members can brief Chiefs of Staff on the legislative priorities of their industries. Likewise, senior Congressional aides provide attendees with details about activity in Congressional committees and the leadership agenda. With almost seventy members, senior aides in Main Street offices sit in critical roles and are in unique positions to discuss the state of play in Congress.
At this year’s retreat in Philadelphia, we also had briefings from two of our Main Street Congress members. Rep. Pat Meehan (PA-7) briefed the group on tax reform efforts being worked out in the Ways And Means Committee. Attendees also heard from Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-8), who briefed on national security and the work of the Homeland Security Committee.
