(Washington, D.C.) – Today, former U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), current President and CEO of Main Street, issued the following statement in response to the announcement that Main Street member Mike Castle (R-DE) will run for the United States Senate in 2010:
“Mike Castle is one of the leading voices for centrist politics, on either side of the aisle, in Washington. Mike has been a tireless advocate for a results-oriented, pragmatic approach to governing during his time in the House and we are confident that he will continue to do so when he is representing Delaware in the United States Senate.
“To rebuild our Congressional majorities in both Houses, our party needs more high quality, centrist candidates like Mike Castle who can win in traditionally Democratic leaning parts of the country.
“As a long-time member of Main Street and a former President of this organization, we couldn’t be happier with his announcement. We congratulate Mike on his decision to run for the U.S. Senate and look forward to working with him when he is elected.”
